The Chicago Tribune reports that Chicago’s local craft brewery, Goose Island Co. has introduced a new brew. Sophie, a Belgian-style brew comes in a 22oz bottle for around $8-$9. They said it has already sold out, maybe I will find a bottle to review!
SABMiller has gotten permission from the South African country of Nambia to import beer there. The group plans to build a brewery sometime in the near future.
The University of Memphis netted $114,576 in beer sales over the past weekend’s game versus the University of Mississippi! That was more than half of the food sales, that’s a lot of beer!

I’m a Goose Island fan and always enjoy a Belgium style brew so looking forward to trying the new Sophia.
What are the rules about selling beer at NCAA games? I’ve discussed this with several people and have never been clear on the issue.
I just read the linked article about the Memphis game and how no beer was sold after the third quarter or in the student section but I’ve heard mixed rules.
Is there a blanket NCAA rule?
I’ve heard the rules are exempt when games are played in third party stadiums like when Georgia and Florida play in Jacksonville (world’s largest cocktail party) or when the stadiums are off campus (UCLA-Rose Bowl) but I’m really not sure how it all works.
Any insight on this?
