Żywiec Lager

Żywiec beer is great. Another Polish beer, Żywiec Lager is one of my favorites! They have been brewing beer since 1852 and were recently bought out by Heineken. They brew a wide assortment of beer including everything from lager to porter. Check out their website, they have some great commercials posted (they are in Polish).
The appearence is a clear, light gold color that looks just delicious.
The taste is full. For a Pilsner-style lager, it packs quite a punch with hints of grain and hops mixed together. The beer is 5.6% alc/vol; taste is quite overbearing but not unpleasant, making it a good, smooth drink. The bottles have a logo that appears on the back when it is just the right temperature to drink so you know when to open it.

This beer came in a 10pk of 500ml bottles. It’s a briefcase of beer, wish I could bring this to the office!

As you can see, the head is full and white. The bubbles, for the most part, are small but there are a few big ones in there. It dies down a bit but never disappears.
All in all, I give Żywiec Lager a 8/10! Here in Chicago it is easy to find, I went to a liquor store that has pretty much any Polish beer you could ever want; maybe I will post a review of it in the near future. It was under $15 for 10 pints! I must add, this beer goes great with wiejska kielbasa (spiced Polish sausage). I suggest you put this at the top of your beer drinking list along side Okocim!
Regards!

Samuel Adams
Boston Lager

I, personally, am not a big fan of Samuel Adams but Boston Lager is exceptionally good! Samuel Adams is an American made beer manufactured by Boston Beer Company. Samuel Adams comes in 12oz bottles and can be found in most bars on tap. They offer more than 10 different varieties of beer, some of which will be reviewed here in the future! This is the first of many craft beer reviews.
The appearence is a darker amber color that forms a small head when poured into a glass.
The taste is a bit hoppy with a hint of malt and the smell is the same. Both the taste and the smell seem to have a sweetness to them but it is not overbearing, it is evenly balanced with an alcoholc content of 4.75% alc/vol.

As you can see, there ins’t much of a head. The bubbles are on the smaller size and vanish within a few minutes. The head is very white and appears frothy, thick.
All in all, if you are looking to try an American beer with an imported feel, pick up a six pack of Boston Lager. It is a bit filling after a few but doesn’t prevent you from drinking more. I give Boston Lager a 7/10.

Okocim is our first official post!
Piwo Jasne Pełne (Full Lager Beer)
O.K. Beer - Okocim
You will learn I like my Polish beers.
Apparently Okocim is one of the oldest breweries in Poland and they have one of the biggest market shares over there. They have a variety of brands offering a wide assortment of beer and vodka. I have read that this particular beer is known as Stawski at local bars in Poland. This is the first of many Polish beer reviews.
The appearance is golden brown and very bright.
At first, Okocim has a sweet taste that finishes just the same. Even though it’s 5.6% Alc/vol, you can barely taste any alcohol making it pleasant and easy to drink. The smell is faint but sweet.

The head starts off strong and thick but subsides to a thin coat after about a minute. As you can see it is quite white and the bubbles, for the most part, are small.
All in all I enjoy drinking this beer, I give it an 8/10; a pretty good beer rating. It’s not my favorite, and it’s no Zywiec, but those of you who like a lighter beer with a pretty high alcohol content (for a light beer) will like it. Here in Chicago it is easy to find and relatively cheap to buy, I suggest you search around for it and try it.
